"What a crazy downfall" - Fans react as Shreyas Iyer departs for a duck in Duleep Trophy
India D captain Shreyas Iyer failed to deliver with the bat in the Duleep Trophy match against India A at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Day 2 (Friday, September 13). The right-handed batter departed for a seven-ball duck, caught by Aaqib Khan at mid-on off Khaleel Ahmed to leave his team in a spot of bother at 6-2.
This is Iyer’s second failure in his three innings in the first-class tournament. The 29-year-old had returned with scores of 9 and 54 in the first Duleep Trophy game.
Iyer also had a miserable run in the ODI series in Sri Lanka last month. He returned with below-par scores of 23, 7, and 8 in his three outings. The Mumbai batter has failed to make a cut in India's squad for the first of the two Tests against Bangladesh, which will be played in Chennai from September 19 onwards.
Fans on X expressed disappointment following Shreyas Iyer’s another failure in the red-ball format.
One user wrote:

"Shreyas Iyer's innings was shorter than a blink! A 7-ball duck is definitely not what he had in mind. Tough luck, champ! He'll bounce back stronger."
A third user added:
"Shreyas Iyer’s dismissal for a 7-ball duck is a disappointing moment, but every cricketer faces challenges. It’s an opportunity for him to regroup and come back stronger in future innings."
