Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 44 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Saturday (April 27).
The two teams have locked horns four times since the Super Giants came into existence in IPL 2022. Rajasthan lead the head-to-head battle against Lucknow by 3-1.
RR beat LSG by 20 runs in their last IPL game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24. Batting first, the Royals posted 193/4 in 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq sent back Jos Buttler (11 runs off 9 balls) cheaply, while Yashasvi Jaiswal (24 off 12 deliveries) threw away a decent start.
RR captain Sanju Samson then led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 82 runs off 52 balls in an innings laced with six sixes and three boundaries. Riyan Parag also smashed 43 off 29, comprising three sixes and a four. The duo put on a 93-run partnership for the third wicket.
Dhruv Jurel provided the late flourish, scoring an unbeaten 20 off 12, including a six and a boundary. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up two wickets for LSG but conceded 41 runs, while Mohsin Khan and Ravi Bishnoi bagged one wicket each.
In response, LSG managed 173/6 in 20 overs. The visitors got off to the worst possible start as they were reduced to 60-4 after 7.3 overs.
Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul came to Lucknow's rescue by sharing an 85-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Pooran scored an unbeaten 64 off 41 with the help of four sixes and as many boundaries. Rahul hit 58 off 44, including two sixes and four boundaries. The duo, though, failed to take the team past the finish line.
Trent Boult bagged two wickets, while Nandre Burger, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Sandeep Sharma scalped one wicket each.

LSG's scorecard from their last IPL game
LSG beat defending champions Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in their last IPL game at MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 23.
Asked to bat first, CSK posted 210/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell and Ravindra Jadeja failed to deliver but captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front. The right-hander scored an unbeaten 108 off 60 with the help of three sixes and 12 boundaries. Gaikwad shared a 104-run partnership with Shivam Dube, who smashed 66 off 27 in an innings laced with seven sixes and three boundaries.
MS Dhoni scored four runs off the last ball of the innings, the only delivery he faced in the match. Matt Henry, Mohsin Khan and Yash Thakur picked up one wicket each for LSG.
In response, LSG achieved the target with three balls to spare. Marcus Stonis smashed an unbeaten century and took the team over the line despite the Super Giants losing wickets at regular intervals. Stoinis scored 124 off 63 balls with the aid of six maximums and 13 boundaries. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda chipped in with 34 (15) and 17*(6), respectively.
Matheesha Pathirana scalped two wickets for CSK, while Deepak Chahar and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one each.

RR's scorecard from their last IPL match
Rajasthan Royals beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets in their last IPL game at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 22.
Batting first, Mumbai posted 179/9 in their allotted 20 overs. They got off to the worst possible start, losing four wickets for just 52 runs after 7.3 overs. Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera came to the rescue with a 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Varma top scored with 65 off 45, including three sixes and five boundaries. Wadhera also chipped in with a quickfire 49 off 24, including four sixes and three boundaries.
Sandeep Sharma finished with career-best figures of 5/18 for RR, while Trent Boult scalped two wickets. Meanwhile, Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal bagged one wicket apiece.
In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed an unbeaten 104 off 60, comprising seven sixes and nine boundaries to return to form in the IPL.
Jos Buttler and RR captain Sanju Samson also came up with contributions of 35 (25) and 38*(28), respectively. MI's Piyush Chawla picked up the solitary wicket of Buttler.
