Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will host defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 68 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 18). The two teams will fight for the last spot in the playoffs. A win will be enough for CSK to finish in the top four, while RCB must win the game by 18 runs or inside 18 overs to surpass the Super Kings' net run rate (NRR) and gain equal 14 points to qualify.
The two teams have locked horns 32 times in the IPL, with CSK leading RCB by 21:10 in head-to-head battles. The five-time champions beat the Bengaluru-based franchise by six wickets in this season's opener at Chepauk on March 22.
Batting first, RCB posted 173/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli provided an impressive start, scoring 35 (23) and 21 (20), respectively. The visitors then quickly lost a bunch of wickets, including Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar for ducks.
Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik provided the final flourish with a 95-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Rawat starred with the bat, scoring 48 runs off 25 balls, including three sixes and four boundaries. Karthik stayed unbeaten on 38 off 26 deliveries with the help of two sixes and three boundaries. Meanwhile, Cameron Green chipped in with 18 off 22.
Mustafizur Rahman starred with the ball for CSK, returning with figures of 4/29, while Deepak Chahar bagged a solitary wicket.
In response, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side achieved the target with eight balls to spare. Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell chipped in with 37 (15), 27 (19) and 22 (18), respectively. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja stayed unbeaten on 34 (28) and 25 (17), respectively, to take the team past the finish line.
Cameron Green was the leading wicket-taker for RCB, returning with two wickets, while Yash Dayal and Karn Sharma bagged one wicket each.

CSK’s scorecard from their last IPL match
CSK beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets in their last IPL game at MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 12.
Opting to bat first, RR posted 141/5 in 20 overs. Riyan Parag top scored with an unbeaten 47 off 35, including three sixes and one boundary. Dhruv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler chipped in with 28 (18), 24 (21), and 21 (25), respectively.
Simarjeet Singh was the pick of the CSK bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/26, while Tushar Deshpande bagged two wickets.
In response, CSK achieved the target with 10 balls to spare. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 42 off 41, including two sixes and one boundary, to take the team past the finish line. Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Shivam Dube chipped in with 27 (18), 22 (13) and 18 (11), respectively.
Ravichandran Ashwin bagged two wickets for RR, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Nandre Burger took one scalp apiece.

RCB’s scorecard from their last IPL game
RCB beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 47 runs in their last IPL game at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 12.
Batting first, DC posted 187/9 in 20 overs. Rajat Patidar starred with the bat, scoring 52 off 32, including three sixes and as many boundaries. Will Jacks, Cameron Green and Virat Kohli chipped in with 41 (29), 32*(24) and 27 (13), respectively.
Khaleel Ahmed and Rasikh Dar Salam picked up two wickets each for the Capitals, while Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav bagged one each.
In response, DC were bundled out for 140 in 19.1 overs. Axar Patel came up with a fighting knock of 57 from 39 balls in an innings comprising three sixes and five boundaries. Shai Hope and Jake Fraser-McGurk got starts, scoring 29 (23) and 21 (18) but failed to take the team over the line.
Yash Dayal starred with the ball for RCB, returning with figures of 3/20, while Lockie Ferguson bagged two wickets. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj, Swapnil Singh and Cameron Green bagged one wicket apiece.
