“What a player” - Suryakumar Yadav commends Abhimanyu Easwaran on his 26th first-class century during Irani Cup 2024

India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav took to Instagram Stories to praise Abhimanyu Easwaran for his outstanding century in the ongoing Irani Cup 2024 match between Mumbai and the Rest of India (ROI) at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Easwaran opened the batting and appeared at ease right from the start, reaching his fifty off 62 balls. The 29-year-old continued his impressive form, securing his century in 117 balls, marking his 26th ton in first-class cricket. Suryakumar Yadav was quick to react, writing on his Instagram Stories:

“What a player. Top man.”

Prior to this game, the Bengal cricketer had played 97 first-class matches, scoring 7,315 runs at an average of 48.44, with 29 fifties and 25 centuries to his credit. At the time of writing, the Rest of India (ROI) were 231-4 after 60 overs, with Easwaran on 122 runs and Dhruv Jurel on 2.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai scored 537 runs in their first innings, bolstered by an unbeaten 222 from Sarfaraz Khan. Ajinkya Rahane (97), Shreyas Iyer (57), and Tanush Kotian (64) also made important contributions. Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler for the Rest of India, taking five wickets.


Suryakumar Yadav set to return to action in the T20I series against Bangladesh

Suryakumar Yadav, who last played for India B in the Round 3 match of the 2024 Duleep Trophy, is poised to make his return when the Men in Blue face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, starting Sunday, October 6, in Gwalior. The second match is set for Delhi on October 9, followed by the final game in Hyderabad on October 12.
