What is Rohit Sharma’s record in T20 World Cup finals?

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has hardly put a foot wrong as captain and batter in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He is only one win away from securing his first ICC title as captain and has already had a memorable campaign with the bat.

The current Indian contingent, including Rohit, are no strangers to big matches, whether it be semi-finals or the finals. They have consistently made it to the business end of ICC events in recent times. Following their thumping win over England in the second semi-final, they progressed into the final of the T20 World Cup for the third time after 2007 and the 2014 editions.

Rohit Sharma was part of the aforementioned finals, with the 2007 T20 World Cup campaign being the first endeavor of his senior international career.

He has scored 59 runs across his two appearances in the T20 World Cup finals at a strike rate of 140. Rohit scored an unbeaten crucial 16-ball 30 in the iconic 2007 edition final against Pakistan at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. His cameo towards the end helped India propel their score to 157-5 in the first innings.

Opening the innings in the 2014 T20 World Cup final against Sri Lanka in Dhaka, Rohit Sharma scored a sluggish 29 runs off 26 deliveries. Team India only managed 130-4 and lost the match by six wickets.

The Indian skipper is in fine form and heads into the final on the back of successive match-winning knocks against Australia and England.

He has already amassed 248 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 155.97, marking an excellent campaign with the bat.

All eyes will be on Rohit as India rely on him for a positive start at the top of the order. A significant contribution from him will go a long way for the Men in Blue to end their ICC trophy drought.

Team India are scheduled to take on South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
