"What's wrong with you?" - Twitter erupts as Shreyas Iyer gets dismissed for just 9 runs in the 2024 Duleep Trophy
Twitter was flooded with reactions as Shreyas Iyer got dismissed for just nine runs off 16 balls on the first day of the ongoing 2024 Duleep Trophy fixture between India C and India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Thursday, September 5. The 29-year-old got dismissed after being caught by Abishek Porel off Vijaykumar Vyshak's delivery in the second ball of the sixth over during his side's first innings.
Earlier, India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to bowl first. Put into bat, India D were off to a disastrous start, having lost opener and wicketkeeper batter Atharva Taide in the very first over. Unfortunately, skipper Shreyas Iyer, who walked in to bat at number three, also failed to step up for his side and got out cheaply.

"Shreyas Iyer bro will always remember you for saving that Test match at Mirpur," another fan wrote

In the other game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, India A, led by Shubman Gill, are up against the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India B side.
With several Indian cricket team stars featuring, this year's Duleep Trophy has assumed much more significance. Also, as Team India is set to play ten Test matches over the next five months (two against Bangladesh, three against New Zealand and five against Australia), the players who are in the fray will be looking to make the most out of this opportunity.
Having last played a Test match back in December 2022, Rishabh Pant has returned to First class cricket set-up after a long hiatus. The southpaw is representing India B at the 2024 Duleep Trophy. South Zone emerged victorious in the previous Duleep Trophy edition, having defeated West Zone by 75 runs in the final.
