What is Virat Kohli’s record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup?

Seasoned batter Virat Kohli will be keen to carry on his good form in the 2023 ODI World Cup when India face arch-rivals Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The 34-year-old has scored half-centuries in both the matches the Men in Blue have played so far.

Kohli contributed 85 off 116 balls in India’s six-wicket win over Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The right-handed batter then remained unbeaten on 55 off 56 balls as Team India got the better of Afghanistan by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Looking at his record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup, Kohli has played three matches and has scored 193 runs at an average of 64.33, with one hundred. He was dismissed by Wahab Riaz for 9 off 21 balls in the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali.

The star Indian batter scored 107 off 126 balls in the 2015 World Cup clash against Pakistan in Adelaide. Kohli struck eight fours in a well-constructed knock as India posted 300/7 and went on to win the game by 76 runs, bowling out Pakistan for 224.

When India and Pakistan met during the 2019 World Cup in Manchester, Kohli contributed a crucial 77 off 65 balls, hitting seven fours. The Men in Blue put up 336/5 batting first and restricted the opposition to 212/6 in 40 overs, winning the game by 89 runs [DLS method].

The former India captain also scored a hundred in the team’s previous ODI encounter against Pakistan, which took place in Colombo during the Asia Cup in September this year.

Kohli was Player of the Match for his brilliant 122* off 94 balls, a knock featuring nine fours and three sixes, as India thumped Pakistan by 228 runs in the Super 4 round. The 34-year-old shared an unbroken 233-run stand with KL Rahul (111* off 106) in this match.
