"When it comes to my parents and my family, I will not hesitate to act accordingly" - Haris Rauf addresses altercation with fanĀ
Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf finally broke his silence on the now-viral footage of an altercation between him and a fan in public. Rauf had to be separated by people as well as his wife as he was furious over the comments made by the fan in the USA following the Men in Green's elimination from the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Rauf was walking with his wife, when a fan, who was with a couple of people, made some insensitive comments. The cricketer was absolutely livid and resisted the attempts made by his wife to stop him and leaped over the bushes to get in the face of the fan.
When Rauf was ultimately dragged away from the fan, he shouted some parting words as well. The pacer questioned whether this is how his father raised him, before walking off.
The pacer has now taken to social media to address the issue, and outright stated that he will not tolerate any comments made on his parents or his family.
"I decided not to bring this on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support us or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parents or my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions," Rauf wrote on Twitter.
Recently, Shaheen Afridi was also involved in an altercation with a fan during the away T20I series against Ireland. The pacer was not pleased by some of the comments made by the Afghanistan fan in question, and requested security to escort him away.
Haris Rauf picked up seven wickets in four matches for Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup
The right-arm pacer made the most of the bowling-friendly conditions to become the joint-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup along with Mohammed Amir. Rauf picked up seven wickets in four matches at an economy of 6.73, with figures of 3-21 in the crunch encounter against India in New York.
However, it was a nightmarish campaign for Pakistan, to say the least. Following defeats to the USA and India, Babar Azam and company failed to qualify for the Super 8 and have made fans quite livid with their approach and performances.
