The Indian men's cricket team beat Bangladesh by seven wickets at Green Park in Kanpur in the second Test. Despite two full days of play being lost due to rain, Rohit Sharma and company still managed to pull off an incredible triumph, significantly boosting their chances of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
By winning the Kanpur Test, India also clinched the two-match Test series 2-0. They had gotten the better of Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test in Chennai. Speaking of the Kanpur Test, the hosts bundled out Bangladesh for 233 in their first innings and then smashed 285-9 declared in 34.4 overs. The visitors managed only 146 in their second innings, leaving India a target of 95 runs.
Having clinched the two-match Test series 2-0, India will now focus on the T20I series. The Men in Blue and Bangladesh are all set to feature in a three-match T20I series from October 6 to October 12.
India vs Bangladesh T20I series will begin in Gwalior
The next match of the Indian men's cricket team will be the first T20I against Bangladesh at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday, September 6. The game will begin at 7:00 PM IST.
The second T20I of the India vs Bangladesh series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 9. The series will conclude with the third and final T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 12.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who made a significant impression for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2024, has earned his maiden India call-up. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who impressed for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), also finds a place, while leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy makes a comeback.
Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar are some of the other members of the 15-man squad. The likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Siraj have been rested.
For Bangladesh, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan has been handed a T20I comeback, while opening batter Parvez Hossain Emon and left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan have also been picked in the 15-member squad. The visitors will be captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto under whose leadership Bangladesh lost the Test series.
