Punjab Kings (PBKS) went down to Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets in match number 37 of IPL 2024 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Sunday, April 21. In a low-scoring game, PBKS won the toss and batted first but were held to 142. In the chase, GT got home in 19.1 overs.
Punjab's batting faltered yet again, as they were bowled out for a low score after winning the toss and taking first strike. Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 35 off 21, while Harpreet Brar contributed 29 off 12, but the others struggled. Harshal Patel claimed three wickets and Liam Livingstone two, but PBKS didn't have enough runs to defend.
Punjab Kings are ninth in the IPL 2024 points table, with two wins from eight matches. Their next game is against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Friday, April 26.
PBKS face another tough challenge against KKR
The Punjab vs Kolkata clash at Eden Gardens on April 26 will be match number 42 of IPL 2024. This will be an evening game and will get underway at 7:30 pm IST. The toss will take place at 7:00 pm IST.
Kolkata Knight Riders are well placed in second position in the points table, having won five of their seven matches. They kicked off IPL 2024 with three wins. KKR beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs in their first match, which was a high-scoring thriller at the Eden Gardens.
In their next two matches, they beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by seven wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and Delhi Capitals by a whopping 106 runs in Visakhapatnam.
Kolkata's winning streak in IPL 2024 came to an end when they suffered a seven-wicket loss against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. KKR, though, recovered brilliantly to thump Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets at home.
KKR's last two matches in IPL 2024 have been close encounters. They batted first against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens and posted 223-6, courtesy of Sunil Narine's hundred. A Jos Buttler ton, though, resulted in RR pulling off a record chase.
In their previous game, Kolkata registered a one-run win over RCB in a thrilling contest at the Eden Gardens. Batting first, KKR put up 222-6, before Bengaluru finished on 221, with Lockie Ferguson getting run out of the last ball.
