When is Team India's next match in BGT 2024-25?
Team India thumped Australia by 295 runs in the first Test of the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Monday, November 25. By virtue of the triumph, India registered their biggest Test win Down Under in terms of runs, surpassing their 222-run victory in Melbourne in 1977.
Batting first after winning the toss, the visitors were bundled out for 150. However, captain Jasprit Bumrah led from the front, picking up 5-30 as Australia were held to 104. Hundreds from Yashasvi Jaiswal (161) and Virat Kohli (100*) then saw India declare their second innings at 487-6. Chasing a target of 534, the Aussies were bowled out for 238 as Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj claimed three scalps each.
There is a gap of a few days before the next match in the series. The second Test of the India vs Australia 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played at the Adelaide Oval from December 6 to December 10.
The India vs Australia match in Adelaide will be a pink-ball Test
The second Test of the India vs Australia series will be a day-night game. The pink-ball Test match will get underway in Adelaide on December 6 at 9:30 AM IST and 2:30 PM local time.
Australia have a terrific record in pink-ball Tests played at home, winning 11 out of 12 matches. Their only loss in a Day-Night Test match at home came against West Indies at The Gabba in Brisbane earlier this year. Shamar Joseph starred with 7-68 in the second innings as the Windies registered a famous eight-run win.
Speaking of Team India's record in Day-Night Test matches, they have played four, winning three and losing one. Incidentally, India's only loss in a pink-ball Test came in Adelaide during their 2020-21 tour. The visitors were infamously bowled out for 36 in their second innings as Josh Hazlewood picked up 5-8 and Pat Cummins 4-21. India, however, recovered brilliantly to clinch the series by a 2-1 margin.
While Bumrah led the visitors in the first Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, Rohit Sharma will be back at the helm when the side takes the field in Adelaide. The opening batter had missed the opening Test against Australia to be with his family for the birth of his second child.
