Which four teams have qualified for playoffs in IPL 2023?
Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have become the fourth team to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs with their eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at home on Sunday, May 21.
MI's qualification was confirmed after Gujarat Titans (GT) beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets in IPL 2023βs last group-stage match, ending the latterβs hopes of a playoff berth.
For the uninitiated, GT became the first team to qualify for the knockouts following their 34-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They will now be looking to win a second title on the trot.
Earlier, on Saturday, May 20, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 77 runs to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs too. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) survived a last-over thriller during their one-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on the same day.
CSK and LSG qualified with 17 points each in 14 games, but the Super Kings finished second with a better net run rate (NRR).
IPL 2023 playoffs: GT to play CSK in Qualifier 1 & LSG to face off against MI in Eliminator
Defending champions GT will lock horns with four-time winners CSK in Qualifier 1 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, May 23.
While GT finished at the top of the table with 20 points in 14 games, CSK were second with 17 points.
The Qualifier 1 winner will directly play the final. Meanwhile, LSG will play MI in the Eliminator in Chennai on Wednesday, May 24.
The winner of the Eliminator will then play the losing team of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2, scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 26.
The IPL 2023 final is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Sunday, May 28.
