Who was the most expensive overseas player at IPL 2025 Auction?
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction culminated a few hours ago in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The mega auction took place over two days, with the 10 teams spending a huge amount of money to sign the world's best cricketers.
After every IPL auction, fans always have a keen interest in knowing who was the most expensive overseas player. The most expensive foreign player of the IPL 2025 Auction was Jos Buttler, bought for ₹15.75 crore by the Gujarat Titans (GT).
Buttler was surprisingly not retained by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL 2025 Auction. As expected, the England team's white-ball skipper sparked a bidding war between the franchises at the auction table. The Rajasthan Royals and the Gujarat Titans were the first two teams to bid for the wicketkeeper-batter.
RR pulled out after submitting a bid worth ₹9.25 crore. The Punjab Kings then entered the race and took the sum to ₹13.25 crore. GT outbid them with a bid worth ₹13.5 crore but then came the Lucknow Super Giants, who took the number past ₹15 crore. Eventually, the Titans signed Buttler for ₹15.75 crore.
