Who was the most expensive player at IPL 2025 Auction?
IPL 2025 Mega Auction is done and dusted. The two-day event happened in Jeddah over the last 48 hours, with the 10 teams spending crores of rupees to include the world's best cricketers in their IPL squads.
Whenever an IPL auction ends, the major talking point among the fans is who was the most expensive player. This year, Rishabh Pant was the most expensive player at the IPL 2025 Auction at ₹27 crore, signed by Lucknow Super Giants.
Rishabh Pant was expected to spark a bidding war among the IPL teams, and he did that when his name came up in Jeddah yesterday. While some cricket experts predicted Rishabh to go for more than ₹30 crore in the mock auction, he could not touch that mark in the IPL 2025 Auction.
Pant entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore. The first team to bid for him was Lucknow Super Giants, who were then joined by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in an intense bidding war.
LSG managed to sign Pant for ₹20.75 crore, but DC used the RTM card. The auctioneer gave one more chance to LSG to increase the bid, and they took it up to ₹27 crore. DC refused to use their RTM card after that.
