"Who is going to make a strong comeback?" Shreyanka Patil posts after being ruled out of the Women's Asia CupĀ

Shreyanka Patil has been ruled out of the ongoing Women's Asia Cup 2024 due to a fractured finger. The 21-year-old all-rounder sustained the injury during India's opening fixture against arch-rivals Pakistan on Friday.

Shreyanka has been a vital cog in the recent ODIs the Women in Blue have played. Having made her debut last year, She has picked up 16 wickets across 12 matches. She was in good touch in the Women's Premier League earlier this year, having picked up the most wickets and also won the Emerging Player of the Year.

The Asian Cricket Council said in their report that Shreyanka Patil fractured the fourth finger of the left hand whilst looking to take the catch. The 21-year-old took a blow to the same finger in the WPL earlier this year, which kept her out of action for a while.

Shreyanka took to social media and shared the news of her injury in a very inspiring manner. The all-rounder posted her image from the game and added the caption:

"Who is going to make a strong come back?! Ans: Meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Tanuja Kanwer will replace Shreyanka Patil in the ongoing Women's Asia Cup

Uncapped left-arm spinner Tanuja Kanwer replaces Shreyanka Patil in the Indian squad. The 26-year-old was snapped up by the Gujarat Giants in the WPL earlier this year and had excellent returns, picking up 10 wickets for them. She will be teaming up with Dayalan Hemlatha, with whom she shared the dressing room a couple of months ago.

India beat Pakistan in their opening encounter on Friday. They were asked to field first and they made light work of it as Deepti Sharma picked up 3 wickets, with two of them coming in the last over of her spell. The chase for the Indian batters wasn't much complicated as well, with Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana scoring brisk 40s to ensure that India breezed past their opponents and won the opening encounter.

The Women in Blue will be going up against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today at 2.00 pm. They will be looking to make it two wins in as many games and ensure that they steer clear of everyone in the points table.
