“Who would have thought, huh?” - West Indies spinner shares heartfelt post after becoming No. 1 T20I bowler
The latest ICC men's T20I Rankings have seen West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein climb to the top of the bowler's list. The 31-year-old has reached the pinnacle in the T20I bowling rankings for the first time in his career.
Hosein now has 707 rating points and has moved three places up to claim the top spot, leapfrogging English spinner Adil Rashid. He took to his official Instagram account, putting up an emotional note along with a video after the significant achievement.
“I'm not usually one to post stats, but this one is special. Who would have thought, huh? That the boy from the hood, the boy from Laventille could be number 1 in the world,” he wrote.
“Whatever is or was being said, for however long I may remain at this number, no matter what happens, let this serve as a reminder that I did it.. That I am number 1,” the left-arm orthodox spinner added.
