"Win predictor showed only 2 to 3 percent" - Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav relive India's iconic 2022 T20 World Cup win against Pakistan

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav revisited memories of India's famous 2022 T20 World Cup triumph over Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in a video shared on ICC's official Instagram handle. Suryakumar recalled the win predictor giving the Men in Blue only a 2-3 percent chance before Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya turned the tables on Pakistan.

In one of the greatest T20Is ever, India beat Pakistan by four wickets off the last ball in a T20 World Cup clash held at the iconic MCG on October 23, 2022. Sent into bat, Pakistan posted 159-8 in their 20 overs. In response, India crumbled to 31-4 inside seven overs.

Kohli (82* off 53) and Pandya (40 off 37) then added 113 for the fifth wicket to lift India's hopes. The former played some outrageous strokes in the last few overs of the match to pull off an incredible win for the Men in Blue.

Speaking about the famous T20 World Cup triumph, Suryakumar, who was dismissed for 15 in the match, admitted that the Men in Blue were in a rather precarious situation.

"When we were four down, I was sitting in the dugout. [I] saw the screen and win predictor showed only 2 to 3 percent and then Virat and Hardik stitched that partnership a very good partnership there. It changed everything," the 34-year-old said in the video posted on ICC.
"Can't say we were very sure that we are going to win that game, but we were definitely back in the competition," he added.

On the other hand, Rohit, who led India in the tournament, admitted that he was too nervous to watch the proceedings and did not follow most of the action live barring the last over.

"90,000 people in the stadium. We were in a bit of trouble with our bat. We lost a couple of wickets early. I am a very nervous person. I was sitting inside the changing room, not watching it live because obviously it was quite tense when the last over was being bowled. But, I came out and enjoyed that moment as well," the man who led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup recalled.

Opening the innings, Rohit was dismissed for four in India's chase, caught at slip off Haris Rauf's bowling.

Despite a good rearguard action, India needed 48 to win off the last three overs. In the 18th over, Kohli smacked Shaheen Afridi for three fours to keep the Men in Blue's hopes alive. The right-handed batter then hit two sensational back-to-back sixes off Rauf to end the penultimate over.
