Scotland, who suffered a defeat against Bangladesh to begin their campaign, opted to bat first after winning the toss. They were reduced to 13-2 in the third over, but fought back in the latter half of the powerplay. Afy Fletcher struck twice in two balls in the 13th over to take the score to 59-4.
Scotland could not make an impact towards the end, eventually settling for 99-8 at the end of the first innings. Chinelle Henry ended with figures of 1-10 off four overs, which included two maiden overs. Afy Fletcher also bowled a memorable spell, claiming three wickets while conceding 22 runs.
Rachel Slater struck in the first over to dismiss Stafanie Taylor while Hayley Matthews faltered again. The West Indies ramped up the scoring, but kept losing wickets. After being reduced to 59-4 in the ninth over, they scored the remaining runs off just 20 deliveries to bolster their net run-rate. The returning Deandra Dottin remained unbeaten on 28 runs off 15 deliveries to polish off the chase.
