"Work pe gya thaa yaa photo shoot pe" - Shikhar Dhawan hilariously trolls Dinesh Karthik
Team India's veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan left fans in splits with his comment on keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik's recent social media post. Karthik is part of the Sky Sports broadcasting team in England for the ongoing 2024 edition of The Hundred.
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Karthik shared pictures of him dressed in a double-breasted blazer and a turtle neck pullover. He captioned the post:
"Hey Boss, taking a subway to work. Will be on time for my standup 👜💻🏢"
While many fans praised Karthik for the dapper look, Dhawan pulled the former Indian cricketer's leg with his comment by asking him if he was in England for work or a photo shoot. The southpaw wrote:
"Boss work pe gya thaa yaa photo shoot pe🤔🤔😃😃"
On the cricketing front, Dinesh Karthik was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL 2024). He entertained the viewers with his explosive knocks, finishing with 326 runs across 13 innings at a strike rate of 187.35.
The 39-year-old announced his retirement from the game on his 39th birthday (June 1, 2024). His association with the Bengaluru-based franchise will however continue, as he was roped in as RCB's batting coach and mentor.
Dinesh Karthik set to become the first Indian player to partake in South Africa's SA20
Dinesh Karthik is set to return to the cricket field in the upcoming season of South Africa's T20 league SA20. The seasoned campaigner was signed by Paarl Royals earlier this month.
Sharing his excitement over his new endeavour, Karthik was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz:
"I have so many fond memories of playing in and visiting South Africa, and when this opportunity came about, I couldn't say no because of how special it would be to come back to playing competitive cricket and win this incredible competition with the Royals.
"Even though I didn't have the chance to represent the Royals in the IPL, to me it was always a franchise setup and environment that was very attractive as a player. I am delighted to be joining the Paarl Royals team which oozes a lot of experience, quality and potential. I am certainly looking forward to joining the group and contributing to what should be an exciting season."
The Royals were placed third in the SA20 2024 points table after the league stage. Their campaign ended with a heartbreaking nine-wicket loss to Joburg Super Kings in the Eliminator.
