WPL 2025 Auction: Full list of purses remaining for all five franchises after retentions
All five franchises of the Women’s Premier League announced their list of retained players, and the process saw some big names being released from the squads. Some top players will go under the hammer at the mini-auction for the 2025 season.
The first edition of the WPL took place in 2023, which Mumbai Indians won under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur. The Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru were crowned champions of the second season in 2024 and will enter the upcoming third edition as the defending champions.
While Delhi Capitals, led by Meg Lanning, made consecutive final appearances only to eventually lose to MI and RCB respectively, UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants are yet to make it to the top two.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained 14 players and released six, which included Disha Kasat, Indrani Roy, Nadine de Klerk, Shuba Satheesh, Shraddha Pokarkar, and Simran Bahadur.
England skipper Heather Knight was a notable absentee from the retained list of players after being released.
RCBW traded Danni Wyatt-Hodge from UP Warriorz, who took up the last remaining overseas slot. As a result, they will enter the auction on the hunt for Indian talent and have ₹3.25 crore remaining in their purse to fill the four vacant slots.
Mumbai Indians
Inaugural champions Mumbai Indians have ₹2.65 crore remaining, with four spots to be filled. They kept their core intact and released 14 players while releasing four. Issy Wong, Priyanka Bala, Humaira Kazi, and Fatima Jaffer were among those released.
Delhi Capitals
Like MIW, Delhi Capitals also released four players while retaining 14. While they managed to retain some of the top names in the squad, they do not have a leg-spinner and will be on the hunt for the same going into the auction.
DCW released Laura Harris, Poonam Yadav, Ashwani Kumari, and Aparna Mondal and have a purse of ₹2.50 crore remaining, with four vacant spots.
UP Warriorz
Alyssa Healy-led UP Warriorz have a purse of ₹3.90 crore remaining, with three spots to be filled. One of the top players released by UPW was England’s pace sensation Lauren Bell. Other players who joined Bell were Parshavi Chopra, Laxmi Yadav, and S Yashasri.
Gujarat Giants
Beth Mooney-led Gujarat Giants have the biggest remaining purse of ₹4.40 crore, having retained 14 players and released six. They have four spots to be filled but will face a tough time at the auction having released some of their core players.
GGW released one of the finest all-format players Sneh Rana and recent T20 World Cup Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand. The Gujarat-based side will have a huge gap to fill and the think tank will be on the edge of their seats when they head into the WPL 2025 player auctions.
Alongside Rana and Tahuhu, GGW also released Kathryn Bryce, Veda Krishnamurthy, and Tarannum Pathan.
