Yashasvi Jaiswal rises to top 3 in latest ICC Test rankings; Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant out of top 10

India's explosive opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has risen to the top three in the latest ICC men's Test rankings for batters. The 22-year-old improved one place after scoring 30 and 77 in the second Test against New Zealand. He is now only behind World No.1 Joe Root and the second-placed Kane Williamson.

On the contrary, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli dropped out of the top 10. Pant and Kohli fell five and six spots to 11th and 14th, respectively, following their failures in the second Test against the Blackcaps. Pant managed 18 and duck in the two innings, while Kohli returned with 1 and 17, respectively.

New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra jumped eight spots to break into the top 10 after he followed his century in the series opener with a fifty in the second Test.

Pakistan vice-captain Saud Shakeel showed a staggering jump, improving 20 rungs to seventh. The left-handed batter slammed 134 against England in the third Test, where the Men in Green registered a nine-wicket victory to seal the series 2-1.

Other notable movements were Devon Conway (up eight places to 28th), Tom Latham (up six spots to 34th), and Glenn Phillips (up 16 rungs to 45th). South Africa’s Kyle Verreynne rose 14 spots to 32nd following his 114-run knock against Bangladesh in the opening Test.


Kagiso Rabada dethrones Jasprit Bumrah for World No.1 status in latest ICC Test rankings

South Africa ace pacer Kagiso Rabada has toppled India speedster Jasprit Bumrah to reclaim his No.1 place in the latest ICC men's Test rankings for bowlers. The Proteas pace spearhead picked up nine wickets in the first Test against Bangladesh to reach 860 rating points and rose three rungs. In the match, he also became the quickest pacer to 300 Test wickets. His performance helped SA win the game by seven wickets in Mirpur.

Josh Hazlewood also rose one place to second as Bumrah fell to third. Apart from the Indian fast bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra also dropped two spots each to fourth and eighth, respectively.

Pakistan’s Noman Ali broke into the up 10 following his exploits against England. The left-arm spinner picked up 20 wickets in the series to rise eight spots to ninth in the top 10 list. He took 11 and nine wickets in the second and third Test, respectively. His partner-in-crime Sajid Khan too earned a career-high rating, improving 12 spots to 38th after 19 scalps in the last two Tests.

New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner rose 30 rungs to 44th after his 13-wicket haul in Pune to help his team complete a series win against India.

Among all-rounders in the latest ICC men's Test rankings, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz improved two places to third, while Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin maintained the top two spots.

There were a few changes in the ICC men's ODI bowler rankings. Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga gained one and two places to 12th and 16th, respectively. Meanwhile, West Indies' Gudakesh Motie rose nine spots to 29th.
