Yashasvi Jaiswal’s elder brother Tejasvi Jaiswal smashes maiden fifty for Tripura against Baroda in Ranji Trophy 2024-25
Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal’s elder brother, Tejasvi Jaiswal smashed his maiden half-century for Tripura on Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Baroda on Friday, November 8. The game is being played at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala.
Playing in his first season of the Ranji Trophy, Tejasvi came in to bat at No. 3. The 27-year-old formed a brilliant 110-run partnership with opener Jiwanjot Singh (94) for the second wicket. In the process, Tejasvi brought up his maiden first-class fifty. The left-handed batter scored 82 runs off 159 balls, including 12 fours and one six.
Before this match, the Tripura batter had a difficult start to the season, managing just 17 runs from his first two games—four runs against Mumbai and 13 against Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, his younger brother and Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will be in action when India face Australia in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, starting November 22 in Perth.
Tripura take 247-run first-innings lead against Baroda in Ranji Trophy 2024-25
Asked to bat first, Baroda struggled early, losing two wickets for just four runs. However, Jyotsnil Singh (46) and Atit Sheth (78) rescued the innings, adding 107 runs for the third wicket.
Despite their efforts, Baroda’s innings collapsed as they went from 162/4 to 235 all out. Abhijit K Sarkar was the standout bowler for Tripura, taking five wickets.
In response, Tripura’s top five batters all scored half-centuries. Bikramkumar Das (97), Jiwanjot Singh (94), Tejasvi Jaiswal (82), Sridam Paul (73), and captain Mandeep Singh (74*) led the charge. Tripura declared their first innings at 482/7, taking a commanding 247-run lead.
At stumps on Day 3, Baroda were 37/0 after 16 overs, trailing by 210 runs. Jyotsnil (12) and Shivalik Sharma (25) were at the crease.
Baroda sits at the top of the Elite Group A table with 19 points, while Tripura are in third place with nine points.
