"Ye toh cheating hui" - Top 10 funny memes after Rohit Sharma and other top-order batters failure in 3rd Test vs Australia in BGT 2024-25
Team India batters, including Rohit Sharma, faced the wrath of fans after they failed in the first innings of the third Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test against Australia at the Gabba, Brisbane. KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and a couple of lower-order batters fought valiantly and saved the visitors from a follow-on threat before stumps.
India began the fourth day with an overnight tally of 51/4 in pursuit of Australia's first innings total of 445. The onus was on captain Rohit Sharma to play a responsible inning with KL Rahul as they were the last recognized specialist batting pair for the visitors. However, Sharma could not do much as he continued his lean batting form and returned to the pavilion early in the day after nicking Pat Cummins' delivery to the wicket-keeper after scoring a paltry 10 (27).
KL Rahul (84) and Ravindra Jadeja (77) played magnificent knocks under pressure to steer their side to a respectable total after a flop show from their peers in the top and middle order. Nitish Kumar Reddy (16), Akash Deep (27*), and Jasprit Bumrah (10*) displayed wonderful grit in the lower order and pushed India's total above 246 to avoid the follow-on.
Fans were highly disappointed with the poor batting performance of Rohit Sharma and Co in the first innings of the third Test against Australia. They expressed their reactions by sharing hilarious memes on X (formerly Twitter). One of the memes read:
"Ye toh cheating hui." (It was cheating.)

"It makes sense to go in with a batter who's in very good form" - Sunil Gavaskar backs KL Rahul to continue as opener ahead of Rohit Sharma in BGT 2024-25
Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar recently weighed in on the debate about the opening slot of the Indian team, preferring KL Rahul over Rohit Sharma. He felt that it was a sensible call considering the current form of both batters. Speaking to India Today about the opening conundrum after play on the fourth day of the third Test, Gavaskar said:
"Yes, that debate is settled. With the way he's batted throughout these three Test matches, Rahul has to open. Rohit Sharma has not been in good form over the last four or five matches, not just these two matches yet, but over the last four or five matches, so it makes sense to go in with a batter who's in very good form."
He added:
"The only thing is, unless it's a superstitious thing, I would like, maybe Rahul to take the first ball so that he just gives young Jaiswal a little time to settle at the other end because Jaiswal seems to be in a bit of a rush. When he comes there, he's pushing hard at the ball, and you know he got away with the streaky boundary of to get forward, and next body was out, so maybe just get him some time to settle at the non-striker end."
