“You need to get rid of your PR, mere bhai” - Shreevats Goswami slams Rishabh Pant’s ‘100089 rupees’ post for Neeraj Chopra

Former Bengal batter Shreevats Goswami took to X to slam Rishabh Pant for his uncharacteristic giveaway tweet related to Neeraj Chopra. The esteemed athlete is set to compete in the men's javelin throw final on Thursday (August 8) night and will look to defend the Olympic gold he won in the last edition of the Games.

On Wednesday, August 7, Pant promised to pay 100089 rupees to the user who would like his post and commented the most, if Chopra wins a gold medal. Moreover, he also pledged to offer flight tickets to 10 other individuals who did the same.

In response, Goswami expressed his amazement at the keeper's tweet and advised him to get rid of his public relations (PR) team, which is reportedly responsible for him trying to gather support for the javelin thrower on social media.

Here's what the 35-year-old replied to Rishabh Pant's tweet:

Talking about the Olympics, Chopra made his entry into the javelin throw final in only his first attempt with an 89.34m throw in the qualification round. With immense competition up his sleeves, he will look to go past 90m to win a gold for the second consecutive time at the Paris Olympics.

As for Goswami, he announced his retirement from first-class cricket in October last year. He then competed in the Legends League Cricket held in Visakhapatnam.

Rishabh Pant failed in his only appearance in the IND vs SL ODI series

Rishabh Pant replaced KL Rahul in the final ODI of the bilateral series against Sri Lanka on Wednesday, August 7. Chasing a target of 249, Pant arrived at No. 4 as the team lost their openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

The southpaw failed to make the most of his opportunity as he was dismissed on 6 off 9, by Maheesh Theekshana. In the end, India were bundled out for 138 and went on to lose the ODI series 2-0 after the first game ended in a tie.
