Shresta Iyer, the sister of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, took to social media to share a heartfelt post for her brother, who is celebrating his 30th birthday on Friday, December 6. Shresta is a dancer, choreographer, and Instagram influencer.
To celebrate the Indian batter's birthday, Shresta took to Instagram to share a photo with Shreyas, accompanied by a heartfelt message, writing:
“Happy birthday to my absolute favorite person. You’re my rock, my partner in crime, and the one I’ll always have endless love and support for. Wishing you a day as incredible as you are! Love you forever.”
Meanwhile, Shreyas has been leading Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. On December 5, during their Group E match against Andhra, Mumbai set a record for the highest successful run chase in SMAT history.
Chasing 230, Ajinkya Rahane was the standout performer, scoring 95 off 54 balls. Prithvi Shaw (34), Shreyas Iyer (25), Shivam Dube (34), and Suryansh Shedge (30*) also contributed as Mumbai won by four wickets with three balls to spare.
Shreyas has been in good form with the bat this tournament, having scored 278 runs in five innings, including one fifty and one century, with an unbeaten 130-run knock against Goa.
Shreyas Iyer became the second most expensive player in IPL history
The Mumbai cricketer recently became the second most expensive player in IPL history during the IPL 2025 mega auction, which concluded on November 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. While Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player, sold to Lucknow Super Giants for INR 27 crore, Iyer was acquired by Punjab Kings for INR 26.75 crore.
The 30-year-old could also captain the side, having led his previous franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, to the championship in the 2024 edition. Overall, Iyer has played in 116 IPL matches, scoring 3,127 runs at an average of 32.23, including 21 half-centuries.
