"Your dedication and service is highly appreciated" - Virat Kohli thanks Mumbai Police for their work during India's T20 World Cup victory parade
Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has thanked the Mumbai Police for the hard work they put in to ensure that India's T20 World Cup victory parade was carried out without any major hassles. The Men in Blue were slated to start their victory parade from the National Centre of Performing Arts at 5 PM IST on July 4.
However, the crowd had started to flock the streets of Marine Drive from around 3 PM, and the parade was further delayed because of a delay in Team India's flight. However, the Mumbai Police safeguarded the interests of the fans as well as the cricketers as it ended up being a terrific spectacle for the cricketing world to marvel at.
Here's what Virat Kohli wrote on X (formerly Twitter) as a token of gratitude for the Mumbai Police:
"Deep respect and heartfelt thanks to all the officers and staff of @MumbaiPolice & @CPMumbaiPolice for doing a phenomenal job during Team India’s Victory Parade. Your dedication and service is highly appreciated.🙏🏼 Jai Hind !🫡🇮🇳"
After the parade, the Indian players entered the Wankhede Stadium for the felicitation ceremony, where several thousands of fans had been waiting with bated breath for hours. The Mumbai Police ensured the felicitation ceremony too was conducted successfully.
Ravindra Jadeja also joined Virat Kohli in thanking Mumbai police
Like Virat Kohli, veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also took to X to thank the Mumbai Police for doing an excellent job on Thursday. Terming them as the 'real hero', here's what Jadeja wrote:
"Big thank you to Mumbai police. You did a fantastic job last night #realhero👮🫡"
Team India had to stay back in Barbados for three days after winning the T20 World Cup final to avoid any threat from Hurricane Beryl. They landed in India early on Thursday and had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence, before making their way to Mumbai for the parade in the evening.
