"Your leadership will inspire many" - Shikhar Dhawan reacts to Suryakumar Yadav being appointed India's T20I captain

Veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate Suryakumar Yadav for becoming the new T20I captain. Suryakumar will lead the Indian team in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka set to begin in Pallekele on July 27.

Dhawan expressed his happiness on SKY being named the T20I skipper and has full faith that the latter will inspire many in his new role. He also wished him all the best in his new endeavor.

Suryakumar Yadav's wife Devisha also reacted to the news

Suryakumar Yadav has been pretty vocal about how instrumental his wife Devisha has been in his success as a cricketer for India. Devisha took to Instagram to express her emotions after her husband was appointed the new T20I captain. She believes it is a culmination of the hard work Suryakumar has put in and that the best is yet to come.

Here's what she wrote on her Instagram Story:

"When you started playing for India, we never imagined this day would come! But god is great and everyone gets the reward of their hard work and diligence in due time. So proud of you and how far you've come but this is just the beginning of your legacy. Long way to go."

Suryakumar has an impressive record captaining India in T20Is, having beaten Australia 4-1 in a series last year followed by a 1-1 draw against South Africa.
