"Your presence is the greatest gift" - Ravindra Jadeja wishes MS Dhoni happy birthday with iconic picture from IPL 2023
Team India and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja posted a heartfelt mesage for MS Dhoni on his 43rd birthday on Sunday, July 7. The Saurashtra cricketer named the former Indian captain as his favourite person in cricket.
Jadeja made his debut for India under Dhoni's captaincy and the duo have been part of several match-winning moments. They have also been playing together for the Chennai Super Kings for over a decade now and have won multiple IPL titles.
Notably, Dhoni lifted the left-arm spinner in ecstasy when the latter hit the match-winning runs in the IPL 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium against the Gujarat Titans. The 35-year-old shared the same picture on his official Instagram handle and captioned it:
"Happy birthday to my only favourite person in cricket.mahi bhai Your presence is the greatest gift. Lots of love 💛💛#bigbrother 🎈🎈🎈"
Jadeja retired from T20Is following India's thrilling win over South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni shared a famous partnership in the latter's final ODI
MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 after playing his final match for India the year before. The match happened to be the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, where he shared a famous partnership with Ravindra Jadeja.
With the Men in Blue struggling to chase down 240, the duo joined hands to bail their side out of trouble. They added 116 off 104 deliveries before Jadeja perished for 77 off 59 with four fours and as many towering sixes. Dhoni departed shortly after for 50, thanks to a direct hit from Martin Guptill. He could be seen walking back to the pavilion with tears in his eyes.
India eventually lost the match by 18 runs and were eliminated from the tournament.
