Yuvraj Singh, Michael Vaughan, & Adam Gilchrist make their predictions for the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Former cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Michael Vaughan, and Adam Gilchrist made their predictions on the highly-anticipated 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India and Australia are set to battle over five Tests, starting at Perth on November 22.

The trio previewed the marquee series in the Club Prairie Fire YouTube Podcast and shared their scorelines.

Vaughan felt Australia would get over the hump on this occasion with a 3-1 series win, having lost the previous two home Test series against India. Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, who played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2000s, predicted a closer series with Australia winning 3-2.

However, Yuvraj Singh picked India to complete a hattrick of Test series wins in Australia, predicting a 3-2 scoreline in favor of the visitors.

While Australia beat India in the latest Test meeting in the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final, India have tasted success in the previous four red-ball series against the Aussies, each by 2-1 margins.

Australia's last Test series win over India came at home in the 2014-15 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Yuvraj Singh attributed India's success over the previous two Australian tours to the preparations and fearless attitude of the youngsters.

Despite losing the first Test of the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy after being bowled out for 36 in the second innings, India bounced back to win the series 2-1.

"India were 30 all-out on the previous tour and they won the series 2-1 from there. I would have never thought India could 2-1 after losing like that in the first Test. The current generation doesn't think too much about the opposition and I thought the preparation of the younger guys was really good when they went to Australia compared to when we toured back in the day," Yuvraj said on the Club Prairie Fire Podcast [41:05].
"Beating Australia twice in Australia is quite big, especially considering our past history when we never won in Australia. I am sure they will be prepared but it won't be easy beating Australia in Australia. It's like winning a World Cup but it's not impossible. It they prepare well and stick to each other, they can win," he added.

India and Australia are the top two Test teams in the latest ICC rankings and the 2023-25 WTC standings, heightening the anticipation of the upcoming mouthwatering clash.
