No coverup regarding Dhoni, assures Dalmiya

Interim BCCI Chief Jagmohan Dalmiya

Kolkata -    Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) interim president today assured that “nothing will be swept under the carpet” regarding skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s alleged conflict of interest following reports of his having stakes in a sports management firm that also handles several Indian cricketers.

“Nothing will be swept under the carpet. However, we believe we should not be after any player. If someone has a stake in sports management company, we will not be after him, but will try to correct the mistakes,” Dalmiya told reporters here after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) working committee meeting here.

Dalmiya said the board will look into the matter once India’s ongoing Zimbabwe tour gets over. “Let the tournament be over,” he said.

Dhoni courted controversy following reports that he held 15 percent stake in Rhiti Sports Management, which manages cricketers Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Pragyan Ojha, besides the Indian skipper.

The company claimed that Dhoni held the shares for a brief while, and those were transferred back to the company in April after payments to the India captain were cleared.

Talking about India’s tour to South Africa in November, Dalmiya said the itinerary was being finalised.

About Kolkata Knight Riders‘ pacer Pradip Sangwan who tested positive for drugs during the recently concluded sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, Dalmiya said: “We will follow procedure as per the anti-doping code.”
