"No doubt Shreyas Iyer is going to play for India one day" - JP Duminy
Delhi Daredevils captain JP Duminy has heaped lavish praise on Shreyas Iyer after his impressive knock of 60 from 40 balls, including 3 fours and 5 sixes, against Sunrisers Hyderabad yesterday that has made everyone sit up and take notice of the young batting star. Duminy expressed no doubt that Iyer will play for India one day, calling him an amazing talent and a huge asset to the Delhi Daredevils.
"No doubt he is going to play for India one day. How long he takes, it is up to him. He is an amazing talent and a huge asset for the Delhi team,” Duminy said.
“I think it is the start for great things to come for him. He oozes with confidence and backs himself whatever be the situation, definitely, a bright prospect."
Meanwhile, the Daredevils’ 4-run victory over the Sunrisers has given them their second consecutive win after starting the tournament scratchily. What must please the team management enormously is that the young Indian players seem to be stepping up to the plate and justifying their place in the side while experienced heads like Duminy and Yuvraj Singh are slowly getting into the groove.
"We will take a lot of confidence out of this win. It takes the entire team to put in a good performance and we know that we did a few things wrong, made a couple of errors but we found a way to take two points,” Duminy stated following their nail-biting win.
“At the start of the event, the focus was on finding ways to get two points, no matter how it happens. It is exciting but we still haven't played to our full potential."
