Welcome to Cricket News Today - a succinct compilation of all the significant developments from the world of cricket in each day.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is against the idea of India conceding two points to Pakistan at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha is keen on making a comeback into the Indian Test side. He fancies the idea of playing second fiddle to Rishabh Pant. On that note, here are all of today's top news from the cricket world.
Sachin Tendulkar urges India to play Pakistan at the World Cup
Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said he would hate to see the Indian cricket team concede two points to Pakistan by not facing the neighboring nation at the World Cup. According to him, such a step would only benefit Pakistan as they would have a better chance of qualifying.
The arch-rivals are set to face off on July 16 and Tendulkar has echoed Sunil Gavaskar's views, urging India to face, and beat, Pakistan.
"India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament," said Tendulkar in a statement to PTI.
He also went on to say that the final call will be taken by the concerned departments and therefore he will go with the decision. However, many of the former Indian cricketers, including the likes of Sourav Ganguly and Mohammed Azharuddin are against the idea of playing against Pakistan.
