No need to worry about Gambhir and Sehwag's form: Vijay Dahiya
Ghaziabad - Delhi coach Vijay Dahiya Friday said he was not worried about the form of his star openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir as the duo failed to make an impact against Uttar Pradesh on the first day of the Ranji Trophy tie at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.
“Viru’s and Gautam’s bad patch don’t worry me. They are class batsmen. Gambhir looked good and confident today. He was unlucky to get out in that fashion. Viru is backing himself. Low scores do not necessarily mean that the batsman is not doing well. It was just one of their bad days. It is all part and parcel of the game,” Dahiya told IANS.
Gambhir was trapped leg-before for 32 while skipper Sehwag managed 25.
“It was a bit disappointing but it is the first game of a new season and anything can happen in a morning session,” said Dahiya of Delhi’s meagre total of 235.
“Winning the toss was good for Uttar Pradesh as they took advantage of the morning circumstances. The ball swung and it is a good cricketing wicket and when I say that I definitely mean a bowler’s wicket,” said the former India wicketkeeper-batsman.
“There is a definite possibility of a result in this game. Tomorrow’s morning session is going to be important for us. Let’s see how it turns out,” he said.
