No planning being done by Indian bowlers - Glenn McGrath
After losing the ODI series against New Zealand 0-4, the morale of millions of Indian supporters is down. Despite batting failure, it’s the bowling which has been consistently poor for India.
While speaking to the media yesterday, Aussie bowling legend Glenn McGrath said that India does not seem to have a plan for its bowlers.
He said, “In India you don’t get much bounce and carry. But when you see wickets that have them it’s easy to get carried away. In such conditions, a bowler needs to do less rather than trying too many different things. It does help when you have a Mitchell Johnson or a Dale Steyn.
“But the ball can come off the bat quicker too. It all comes down to control, having a game plan and executing it. A lot of bowlers I see these days don’t seem to have a plan. They are just running in, bowling and hoping,” McGrath said.
He also gave his opinion on newcomers, adding, “If a bowler is in good form, pick him. For the youngsters, working with a bowler who has been there for years is invaluable. That’s the best thing any young guy coming in can get.”
McGrath is also impressed with the talent of Ishwar Pandey, saying, ” It’s great to see him in the Indian team but it’s a shame that he didn’t get a run in the ODIs. I think he would have done ok. Let’s see how it goes in the Tests. I am impressed with him. If he get’s a chance to play, I think he will do well.”
