Only fair I let people know what I have been through: Sachin Tendulkar on his revelations in autobiography

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar’s recently released autobiography ‘Playing it My Way’ has been making the headlines for the legendary cricketer’s remarks on former Indian head coach Greg Chappell – specifically his revelations on how the Australian great tried to replace Rahul Dravid as captain months ahead of the 2007 50-over World Cup –  and for his views on Multan declaration, which he refers to in his book as a decision that did not make sense.

Tendulkar, speaking at the UK launch of his book, in London, today clarified that his intention was not to create a dispute. He said: "I have not tried to create controversies intentionally. Certain statements I make in the book have made headlines but the idea was not to make headlines.”

When asked why he remained tight-lipped about these issues all this while, the 41-year-old said: "During my playing days, I felt all my energy should focused in one direction, which is scoring runs and winning matches for India. And I honestly didn't have the time or energy for anything else. But now my career is over I thought it was only fair I brought this out and let people know what I have been through."
