Pakistan's defeat to India can be a blessing in disguise: Imran Khan

Pakistan’s World Cup winning captain Imran Khan consoled the current team saying that they shouldn’t be too disheartened by the loss to arch-rivals India. He took to Twitter to send his message to the Pakistani team, who started their World Cup campaign with a 76-run loss.

He said that he had confidence in the Pakistan team, especially the bowlers. The team could do worse than listen to the advice of the man who averaged 33.41 with the bat and 26.61 with the ball in his hand apart from leading Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup.

He said, “Pakistanis shouldn’t get depressed over today’s loss to India. If the performance is accurately analyzed, the defeat can be a blessing in disguise.”

He gave encouragement to the team and said that the strategy needed to be reassessed, not the players.

“I saw some good talent on display today but there is a need for a better strategy. (Mohammad) Irfan, Wahab (Riaz), Yasir (Shah) and Sohail (Khan) can defend if batsmen give a decent target. But Younus (Khan) is a must for future matches,” he concluded.
