Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in Galle Test to take 1-0 series lead

Pakistan’s Ahmed Shehzad bats on Day 5

Pakistan completed a sensational turnaround in the Galle Test against Sri Lanka. At several points struggling to save the match – 94/5 at one point in the 1st innings – Pakistan came out on top on Day 5 with 10 wickets in hand.

By the end of day 3, Pakistan were 118/5 and most predicted a collapse on Day 4. Sarfaraz and Shafiq combined well to steady the batting innings, before Yasir Shah scripted a Lankan collapse with his wily leg spin in the second innings.

Yasir Shah’s 6/74, the 2nd best Test bowling by a leggie in Sri Lanka, ripped through the Lanka batting order on the final day, and the hosts folded up for only 206.

Pakistani openers Ahmed Shehzad and Hafeez raced to the target of 92 in only 11.2 overs, as Pakistan lost no wicket in the fourth innings.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was named Man of the Match for his first innings century.
