PBKS' 3 highest run-scorers vs RR in the IPL
There is never a dull moment in the encounters between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League.
These two teams have always provided all the ingredients for what we call a blockbuster encounter between them. Fans jokingly call it another version of "El Classico".
Be it the 2015 super over, Ravichandran Ashwin "Mankading" Jos Buttler, Rahul Tewatia smacking five sixes off Sheldon Cottrell, Sanju Samson's lone fight in a big chase, or Kartik Tyagi defending four runs in the last over against Punjab, this rivalry has never disappointed cricket fans. Many records have been made and shattered when these two teams played against each other.
In this article, we will discuss the Punjab Kings batters, who have scored the most runs against the Royals in IPL history.
Punjab Kings' three highest run-scorers vs Rajasthan Royals in IPL
#3 Mayank Agarwal
The dashing Indian opener, Mayank Agarwal was roped in by the Punjab Kings in 2018 and was given leadership responsibility in the IPL 2022.
Mayank, who has been inconsistent with his performance in his IPL career, was impressive against the Royals. He scored 252 runs against them at an SR of 136 in just six innings.
This also includes his breathtaking knock of 106 off just 50 deliveries in September 2020 at Sharjah.
#2 Shaun Marsh
One of the most underrated overseas players in the IPL, Shaun Marsh used to be the backbone of the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab), where he more often than not bailed his team out of precarious situations.
During his nine-year association with the franchise, he amassed 2,477 runs, averaging 39.95 at an SR of 132.74.
The southpaw slammed 409 runs in just seven innings at an SR of 144.52 against Royals. It includes a scintillating knock of 115 off 69 balls in the inaugral season of the cash-rich league.
#1 KL Rahul
Former Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul turned out to be a different beast against the Rajasthan Royals while playing for the Punjab-based franchise in the 2018–21 IPL period.
Playing for PBKS, Rahul amassed 2,548 runs, averaging 56.62 at an SR of 139.77 in 55 innings.
During his time with Punjab, the 31-year-old accumulated 490 runs in eight innings, at an average of 81.67, including five half-centuries.
