Police accuse Amit Mishra of having fractured assault victim's finger
Spelling further trouble for Amit Mishra, police investigations have now found out that the cricketer had fractured a woman’s ring finger during a night of violence in October this year, while also verbally abusing her, report Deccan Chronicle. Ashok Nagar police station have also found out that that Mishra had not in fact hit the victim in self-defence, as he had claimed in his statement.
Mishra’s statement had stated that she had abused him and he had then pushed her in a fit of rage and her finger may have gotten hurt from the kettle kept on the table. I had no intention to attack or abuse her, he had said in his statement.
However, the medical report indicates that the fracture suffered by the woman was due to a twisting action – evidence which puts the India leggie in some hot soup.
The 36-page charge sheet stated that the victim managed to sneak into the cricketer’s hotel room by hoodwinking the staff, and she also checked inside the cricketer’s bag for something. What this object might have been is one of the things which still remains a mystery from this episode.
Events of the October night
Mishra had been interrogated for close to three hours last month by Bengaluru police.
“I asked her how she came inside. I even called the hotel manager and complained. By then Vandana started shouting and abusing me. In a bid to save myself from her attack I pushed her away. The kettle kept on the table fell down and broke. The hotel staff asked me whether they should take the victim away with security, but I sent them back and convinced her to go back”, the cricketer had said.
However, in her complaint Vandana had claimed that when Amit entered the room, she was already inside. He started fighting with her asking how she got inside the room. Amit hit her and later threw a kettle on her face. Then Amit strangled her neck. She got frightened and screamed. Amit then twisted her right wrist and fractured her right ring finger.
The woman had also said that she had shared a close relationship with Amit Mishra after the two had been introduced by a mutual friend three years ago. Whenever Mishra was in Bangalore for cricket camps or treatment, the two would reportedly spend time together at Vandana's upscale apartment on Resthouse Crescent Road, off MG Road.
