Prasidh Krishna takes 5 as Karnataka take lead against Bangladesh A
Karnataka have gained the upper hand on the opening day of the three-day match against the Bangladesh ‘A’ team which is being played in Mysuru. A spirited bowling show, capped by the dream spell of 5-49 by the 19-yearold Prasidh Krishna, helped Karnataka bowl out the strong Bangladesh A side to mere 158 runs.
Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Bangladesh A lost the plot very early and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shuvagata Hom top-scored for the visitors with 55 runs, and Litton Das also made a useful 50.
The highlight of the day, though, was the bowling of young Prasidh with Udit Patel giving him good support from the other end.
In reply, Karnataka got off to a decent start, before they were in a spot of bother, losing a host of wickets. But Shishir Bhavane and Jagadeesha Suchith, made sure Karnataka did not lose any more wickets at the end of the day’s play, eventually guiding their team to 163/6, with a narrow lead of 5 runs.
Going into the match, the visitors were more confident side, despite losing the three-match ODI series to India A by 1-2. Playing with a strong squad, one expected Bangladesh ‘A’ to dictate terms to the Karnataka players.
But the Ranji trophy champions, who are playing with a second-grade squad, have managed to dominate proceedings right from the word go. Karnataka will look to press the advantage going into Day two.
