Pratima Singh reveals the story of how Ishant Sharma proposed to her
Indian pacer Ishant Sharma followed the current trend in Indian cricket of losing singlehood and got engaged with national basketball player Pratima Singh on Sunday. Their marriage is scheduled for December.
His fiancée, however, disclosed the other side of lanky pacer that his fans hardly know about. Speaking to The Times of India, Pratima tagged the 27-year old as one of the most romantic guys in the world and also shed light on the story of how he eventually proposed to her.
"He's the most decent guy around and extremely caring. We have been dating for quite a few years and I feel he's the best guy in the world. Oh, he's the most romantic guy in the world. But only I'm privy to that aspect of his personality. He proposed to me in a car with roses and gifts," revealed Pratima.
The Delhi-born Indian bowler rarely ignites controversy apart from some onfield incidents and is among the most reserved players of the Indian cricket team. Unlike his flamboyant teammates like Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, Ishant has kept his personal life quite low key throughout his cricketing career and the news of his engagement came as a surprise for everyone.
The right-hander took on social networking site to announce his engagement and expressed his love with a heartfelt message.

Interestingly, the captain of Indian women's basketball team, Akanksha Singh who is Pratima's elder sister, helped to patch things between the duo. Explaining how the couple met and her role, she said, "Ishant met my sister three years ago when my friend and I had organised a basketball tournament for women players in Delhi. Ishant had come along with my friend. We are five siblings (four sisters and one brother) and extremely close.”
“So, when Ishant asked her out for the first time, Pratima, who is the innocent darling of the house, came running to me to ask if it was alright. Ishant is a decent guy so I gave a go ahead because I trusted him. I'm glad that they are going to tie the knot. It will be a December wedding, though the date hasn't been finalised yet," she further added.
After Yuvraj Singh and Rohit Sharma, Ishant is the new addition to the list of cricketing stars who have recently exchanged rings.
In cricketing terms, Ishant has really matured under Virat Kohli's Test captaincy and played a crucial role in India's famous Test series win over Sri Lanka last year. By making his presence felt in the Indian Premier League, he will now aim to make a comeback in India’s limited-overs side.
