Predicting the top 5 most expensive Indian buys of WPL 2025 Auction ft. Sneh Rana

The Women's Premier League (WPL) player auction list was unveiled on Saturday, December 7. One hundred and twenty players have registered, including 91 from India, 29 international players, and three from Associate Nations. The auction will take place in Bengaluru on December 15, 2024.

There are 19 spots in the mini-auction, with five reserved for international players. Of the players available, 82 are uncapped Indians, while nine are capped. The international pool consists of 21 capped players and eight uncapped players.

Gujarat Giants have the largest purse, with ₹4.40 crore, followed by defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru who have ₹3.25 crore. Mumbai Indians, the inaugural champions, have ₹2.65 crore, while two-time finalists Delhi Capitals have ₹2.50 crore. UP Warriorz will enter the auction with ₹3.90 crore.

Several prominent Indian players, including some uncapped talents who have impressed in domestic competitions, are expected to generate significant interest. With that in mind, we predict the top five most expensive Indian buys of the WPL 2025 auction.

#5 Jagravi Pawar

The uncapped Indian right-arm off-spinner, Jagravi Pawar, has set her base price at ₹10 lakh for the upcoming auction.

The Maharashtra player has been in strong form recently, taking 16 wickets in 11 matches during the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2024, where she finished second on the tournament's wicket-taking charts.

With her impressive performances, the 25-year-old is likely to attract considerable attention at the 2025 WPL auction.

#4 Humaira Kazi

Indian all-rounder Humaira Kazi was part of the Mumbai Indians squad during the first season of the WPL. Despite featuring in 17 matches across two seasons, she batted only five times. Mumbai has since released her, and she will now enter the auction with a base price of ₹10 lakh.

The 31-year-old right-handed batter has been in solid form recently, finishing as the leading run-scorer in the Senior Women's T20 Trophy 2024, with 328 runs in 11 innings for Mumbai, helping the team secure the title.

Additionally, she scored 132 runs in four innings, including two half-centuries, for Team D in the Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy 2024. Her recent performances could make her an appealing option for potential bidders in the upcoming auction.

#3 Nandini Kashyap

Another uncapped Indian player in excellent form is wicketkeeper-batter Nandini Kashyap. The 21-year-old from Uttarakhand scored 247 runs in nine matches during the 2024 Senior Women's T20 Trophy, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament.

She also topped the run charts in the 2024 Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy, amassing 332 runs in five matches, including four half-centuries, playing a key role in Team E's title win.

Additionally, Nandini was the highest run-scorer in the 2024 Uttarakhand Women’s Premier League, accumulating 123 runs in three matches. With her consistent run-scoring ability and wicketkeeping skills, Nandini is expected to attract significant attention at the WPL 2025 auction.

#2 Tejal Hasabnis

Another player on the list is the 27-year-old capped Indian cricketer Tejal Hasabnis, who has set her base price at ₹30 lakh. Earlier this year, she scored three consecutive half-centuries (53, 63, and 50) for India A in an ODI series against Australia A.

In October, Tejal made her debut for the Indian national team in a series against New Zealand, scoring 57 runs. Although her performance in the 2024 Senior Women's T20 Challenger Trophy was not her best, with only 59 runs in four matches, her experience at the higher levels makes her a valuable asset for any team.

#1 Sneh Rana

At the top of the list is the experienced Indian campaigner, Sneh Rana. The 30-year-old all-rounder was with Gujarat Giants during the first two seasons of the WPL but didn’t have the best performances, taking just six wickets in 12 matches. Consequently, she was released ahead of the 2025 auction.

Rana has set her base price at ₹30 lakh and brings a wealth of international experience. She has represented India in 56 matches across all formats, taking 76 wickets and contributing 402 runs with the bat.

Given her vast experience, Rana is expected to generate significant attention during the WPL 2025 auction.
