Presence of Sachin Tendulkar and Mohanlal makes "Run Kerala Run" a huge success
The 35th National Games is scheduled to take place in Kerala from January 31 to February 14 and prior to the start of the games, an important promotional run called “Run Kerala Run” was held and the event proved to be a huge success with thousands of Keralites turning up.
All the 21 mega points, 226 mini points and over 10000 ordinary points received a thundering response from the crowd and it was even more impressive at the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram and at another major city Kochi.
One of the main reasons people turned in such large numbers for the run was the presence of actor Mohanlal and Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar. The run also saw a spree of cabinet ministers including Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed and Speaker of the Kerala Assembly G. Karthikeyan.
The Governor of the state P. Sathasivam was also present at the event and delivered a pledge before the start of the race.
Addressing the crowd that had turned up, Tendulkar said that the state has always held a special place in his heart and hoped that the people of Kerala would come out in support of the games, just like how they did during the Indian Super League (ISL).
“Kerala has always held a special place in my heart and I am sure that you will extend support to the National Games in the same vein you have supported Kerala Blasters,” he said.
