Prithvi Shaw's top 3 IPL knocks against CSK

Prithvi Shaw returned to form in IPL 2023 during the match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) earlier this week. Making his return to DC's playing XI, Shaw opened the batting with David Warner and added 94 runs for the first wicket.

While Warner fell short of his half-ton by four runs, Prithvi Shaw completed his first half-century of the season and departed to the dressing room after scoring 54 runs off 38 balls. He smacked seven fours and one six in his match-winning knock.

DC had dropped Shaw from their playing XI earlier this season because of his poor performances. The rising star of Indian cricket could not match the expectations, forcing the coaches to leave him out of the playing XI.

Speaking on 'The Grade Cricketer' podcast, DC assistant coach Shane Watson commented on Shaw's IPL 2023 performance, saying:

"Unfortunately, dropping was the only thing that could help him align things as to where he wants to go and we saw that in the last game. That's one of the best innings I have seen Prithvi played. Hopefully, he does well in the next game against CSK."

Shaw will be in action today against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The right-handed batter has played some brilliant knocks against CSK in the past. Before he comes out to open the batting for DC today, here's a look at his three best knocks versus Chennai.

Delhi Capitals battled against the Chennai Super Kings in Match 7 of IPL 2020. CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Shaw opened the batting for DC and played a fantastic knock of 64 runs from 43 balls. He whacked nine fours and a six in his innings to help DC score 175/3 in 20 overs. DC won the game by 44 runs, and Shaw won the Man of the Match award.

DC took on CSK in Match 2 of IPL 2021. CSK set a 189-run target for DC in that game at the Wankhede Stadium. Delhi needed a good start, and their openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave them an excellent start.

Dhawan scored a 54-ball 85, while Shaw blasted a 38-ball 72 as DC inched closer to a win. Shaw hit nine fours and three sixes in his innings, maintaining a brilliant strike rate of 189.47.

#3 Shaw's half-century goes in vain - 60 (34), IPL 2021

DC clashed against CSK in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2021 playoffs. Dubai played host to that game, and Shaw destroyed the Chennai bowling lineup once again. He raced to 60 off 34 balls, smacking seven fours and three sixes. None of the other DC top-order batters could impress much.

When Shaw lost his wicket after scoring 60, the team's score was 80/4. Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer lifted the team to 172/5, but that score was not enough as CSK won the game by four wickets.
