Proteas recall Morne Morkel for Champions Trophy, Steyn named in A squad
Morne Morkel has been recalled to South Africa's one-day squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, but there is no place for fellow fast bowler Dale Steyn.
Morkel, who has not played an ODI since June 2016, was named in a 15-man squad on Wednesday after impressing on his return from a back injury in the recent Test series against New Zealand.
The uncapped Keshav Maharaj has also earned a call-up, to provide a second frontline spin option along with Imran Tahir.
However, Steyn will continue his recovery from shoulder surgery with South Africa A, while another experienced seamer, Vernon Philander, remains absent from the limited-overs set-up.
The Proteas will be captained by AB de Villiers for the tournament in England, which begins on June 1. South Africa's first game against Sri Lanka takes place at The Oval two days later.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) convener of selectors, Linda Zondi, said: "We have been working with this group of players for the last two seasons where our key emphasis has been consistency in selection. That has shown in how this group has performed over the last while, which has resulted in winning three consecutive ODI series.
"We feel we have a squad that covers every scenario that we could possibly be faced with on the tour. Most importantly, every player knows and understands their role and value within the squad.
"Keshav has had an exceptional debut season for the Test side and his inclusion in the squad gives us a spinner with different skills and extra batting depth. We have seen how important it is to bat deep in ODI cricket, this option will give us that cover if needed."
