R Ashwin is a brilliant and dynamic skipper, says Kedarnath
Dindigul Dragons off-spinner Guru Kedarnath addressed the media after his team beat Ruby Kanchi Warriors by 48 runs in their India Cements TN Premier League match at Chepauk.
What are your thoughts on the pitch? Did it have good carry and bounce?
It was brilliant! It was a little fast when the ball came on to the bat first but then it slowed towards the end as the ball got softer. The ball carried through when it was new.
On Ashwin’s captaincy...
I have played with him in junior cricket and it is nice to have a senior pro in the team. He was very dynamic and it was a good experience. He was brilliant!
What was the strategy and plan?
Yes. We were happy with the score. Since bowling is our strength, our strategy was not to give away runs and let the wicket do the rest. We bowled back of length, and also managed to cut off the fours and sixes which helped us in the end.
What difference did the outfield make?
It was not that sluggish and was good despite the rain. Obviously, it was on the softer side. Also, bowlers in T20s are under pressure thanks to the amount of runs scored. We have good strikers of the ball and luckily it worked in our favor.
What are your thoughts on your family’s reaction watching you on television for the first time?
It is nothing special (laughs). My mother doesn’t follow cricket. But then she enjoyed my stint on television and it feels good. She was not nervous and she enjoyed it!
