Rahane should play and open innings: Ganguly
Kolkata - With India looking to register a 4-0 series whitewash against Australia, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly on Thursday batted for Ajinkya Rahane, saying the Mumbai batsman should play in the Delhi Test match.
“I think Ajinkya Rahane should play. He should play as he has for long been not playing in matches. It is not good for the development of a player,” Ganguly said here.
“I think Rahane will open,” the former captain told Bengali news channel Star Ananda.
Rahane has been out of the Indian team for the last 16 Test matches.
Ganguly said the hosts could win the last Test match in Delhi, beginning on Friday.
He said Australian captain Michael Clarke, who was suffering from a back injury, should play in the final Test.
“I think Clarke should play even if his injury is 50 percent. It is very urgent for a captain to play when his team is losing 0-3,” Ganguly said.
