Rahul Dravid appointed coach of India A and India U-19 teams
Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid has been confirmed as the coach of the India A and India U-19 teams after much speculation surrounding his role in the last few days. Earlier, there were rumours linking Dravid with the Indian head coach’s job, but he is likely to have opted out considering the amount of travelling involved due to the senior team’s busy schedule.

With Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman having been roped in by the BCCI to be a part of their advisory committee, there were wide calls for Dravid to also be included in some capacity or the other considering his vast international experience. At the time, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur had said: "For any cricketer of that stature, BCCI would like to have their services. When the time comes, an announcement will be made. Not everybody can be on the same panel."
Apart from Dravid having had an illustrious cricketing career, the fact that he has been playing the role of a mentor with the Rajasthan Royals over the last couple of years is undoubtedly going to hold him in good stead for the challenges that the new role will bring.
Dravid, who scored over 10000 runs in both Test and ODI cricket for India, has played an instrumental role in bringing through talented players like Sanju Samson and Karun Nair at the Royals, and it won’t be a surprise if the 42-year-old unearths more such gems in the coming years.
