Rahul Dravid roped in to assist anti-tobacco campaign
According to NDTV, Indian batting legend, ‘The Wall’ Rahul Dravid has been selected as the brand ambassador for the Union Health Ministry’s National Tobacco Control Campaign.
C K Mishra, additional secretary, MoHFW, while making an announcement regarding the issue on Thursday, was quoted as saying:
“Despite effective, evidence-based tobacco control policies, smoking continues. India played a leading role in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) negotiations and has been striving to implement more tobacco control measures.
“It is only through collective resolve of governments, world leaders, development partners and civil society, we can save lives, protect and preserve the health of future generations from harmful effects of tobacco use,” he said.
“The national anti-tobacco control campaign has to go on till we achieve desired results,” Mishra added.
Dravid had earlier been roped in by Bangalore traffic police in a campaign to help reduce accidents on the road and for civilians to adhere to traffic rules.
