Rahul Dravid, Brian Lara, Shoaib Akhtar and Courtney Walsh to play again
Ever since the great wall of India and the most respected cricketer Rahul Dravid said a final goodbye, millions of his devotees have gone into sad mode. The reason is that this charming, cool and contented cricketer will not be seen batting or guiding his team ever again! As if this was not enough, Sachin Tendulkar has also decided to quit after his 200th test. Many believe that it will take a while before the fans revert back to cricket!
But wait, in case things move around as planned, all of us will have a chance of a lifetime to see Rahul Dravid bat again – in the month of November 2013. Surprised? If this works as planned, not only Dravid, but many of the masters from across the globe will be delighting the fans with their thrilling cricketing skills. So let us get ready to see the master strokes.
As per a news item published in the prestigious newspaper Hindustan Times, “T20 world masters of cricket” tournament has been scheduled in the Barbados from 1-10 November 2013. Teams from Pakistan, West Indies, England and India are likely to take part in this sparkling event.
As per the news item, a local organizer had said that this is going to be something very different. Cricket fans from around the globe will have a chance to see former greats resume rivalries in the T20 format. He said that the organizers have already spoken to the players from all the four countries and got necessary permissions for the proposed event.
He claimed that they were close to finalizing deals with cricket legends like Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, Shoaib Akhtar, Courtney Walsh and others. It could turn out to be a massive tournament. It has been further elaborated that all the participants should be aged above 35 before the start of the event. They must have represented their respective countries in either Tests or ODIs.
They intend to make it a permanent event and are hopeful that it will be a successful affair, especially after seeing the response to the recently concluded Caribbean Premier league.
I personally feel that this is a very thrilling and noble idea. Not only will the seniors get a chance to showcase their rich talent again, but also for the fans it is going to be a bounty they never thought of! Who knows that this might prove to be a futuristic IPL for the veterans! This event is going to be one having a magnetic charm.
It will be interesting to see the level of fitness, skill and zeal among the veterans. The encounters are definitely going to be spicy and thrilling. With the recent retirement of Sachin Tendulkar, perhaps even he could grace the tournament in the future. Now that would be something huge to look forward to! Very best wishes, as we are waiting with our fingers crossed!
